Flower Festival Willow Angels July 2007

A project undertaken by year 8 Fast track GCSE Art students.

They were given a brief from Axminster flower festival committee to make four 6ft. angels for their annual flower festival held in the Minster Church. The committee wanted two angels stood at the alter praying, and two flying from the church window. It was decided to construct them from willow, which was woven and twisted to create a framework, then covered with cream tissue paper.

The students worked on the angels after school as part of their GCSE coursework. The whole project took two months to complete and the finished angels were a centre piece for the flower festival display in July.
