Internationally Renowned Saxophonist Workshop

Monday the 28th saw Andy Sheppard – internationally renowned saxophonist come to the school to do a work shop with 12 saxophone players including two from Sidmouth College and Colyton Grammar. The players were put through their paces with a range of technical exercises and some challenging pieces, most of which were done by ear. A number of students were improvising for the first time. In the final session Andy took the Woodroffe Big Band through two pieces – Caravan by Duke Ellington and the Big Drop written by Andy Himself. Harry Eastwood particularly enjoyed playing a chord using his forearms! A great day for all the students involved.
