Wednesday the 24 September saw us welcome Resonator Strings from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to launch a string project which will bring together Woodroffe, Beaminster and Colfox schools.

A quintet of two violins, viola, cello and double bass performed a range of pieces of music from the 1800's through to the 2000's to 180 students.

It was a fantastic performance during which you could have heard a pin drop. Following on from this 50 students have signed up to be involved in the project where they will be provided with a string instrument and be coached by a member of the quintet to play three or four pieces in a concert on 13 December at Sir John Colfox School. Current string players and complete beginners, Miss Webb and myself included, will come together for this one off occasion which promises to be.... Interesting!

Any student who would like to be involved needs to come and see me in the music department as soon as possible to register their interest. No previous skills necessary!
