Seven local teachers visited the Royal Academy in London to see the latest exhibition by world renowned artist and sculptor, Anish Kapoor. Arranged by Alison Bowskill, Woodroffe’s community art teacher, one teacher from each of the primary feeder schools took part in the trip. The aim was to look at how contemporary art works can be used as a learning stimulus within the primary curriculum.

The visit was the starting point for a long term collaborative project which will culminate in the production of a multi-media teaching and learning resource pack for students and staff and is part of Woodroffe’s community commitment as a specialist school in the visual arts.

Alison Bowskill says, “It was a memorable and worthwhile trip, everyone went home with lots of inspiration and ideas to take into the classroom.”
