On Friday 10th November Hugo Bugg came in to talk to art students about making a career out of their passions. We are very lucky to have so many ex Woodroffe students who have gone onto have highly successful careers in the visual arts, and Hugo, the youngest ever winner of Best in show at the Chelsea Flower Show in no exception.
Hugo, who studied Art, PE and Environmental Science at the school before going to Falmouth university in 2005 gave an excellent talk to students about the pathways he took that have helped him to put together a partnership that delivers amazing garden designs around the world.
Our year seven gardeners were keen to meet him and get ideas for the school garden being developed in the care of Mr J Johnson-Hills. It was an inspiring talk and we are very grateful that Hugo gave up his time and took such a keen interest in their efforts. It was great to reminisce about school life 20 or more years ago and the particularly observant amongst current staff and students might recognise one of Hugo’s pieces, created in 2004 that remains up around the school.
