Rough Notes – December 2021

Dear Parents, Carers, and friends of The Woodroffe School,

Thank you for taking the time to read our latest edition of ‘Rough Notes’ and the last for 2021.

It has been a very strange end to the autumn term and one which has proven to be quite different to the one we had planned. At this point, I would like to apologise for the cancellation of some of our planned Christmas events, this was however, out of our hands.

We have enjoyed a very busy term and have had the opportunity to engage in many positive activities despite the challenges faced. Our previous editions have brilliantly documented life at Woodroffe across the term. If you have not had chance to read these, I would thoroughly recommend you take a look.

In this edition of ‘Rough Notes’, we are missing some of the traditional and festive events that we would normally share. Despite the restrictions, the December edition is packed with interesting submissions from across the school, I hope you enjoy what we have selected.

I would like to thank our wonderful students for their continued hard work and optimism. This has been a challenging year for them all and I hope that next year proves to be much more straightforward.

I was not able to deliver my Christmas assembly in person this year, however, I did record a short video for the students, which can be seen here.

In the New Year, I will be helping to organise several fund-raising events in support of the charity Toilet Twinning - Flushing away poverty, one toilet at a time

The school choir also missed the opportunity to perform in our local church, however, you can also see a video of their in-school performance here.

We were able to offer our students the chance to have Christmas lunch together. It was great to see students enjoying time together, sharing in the festivities and tucking into the traditional fayre, even the brussel sprouts!

I would like to thank Neville Causley of Causley Cabs, the organiser of the Lyme Regis Charity Santa Sleigh, for choosing to support our wellbeing project as this year’s nominated charity. The money will make a real difference and will enable us to add to our incredibly valuable service.

I hope you enjoy our latest edition of ‘Rough Notes’. Should you wish to find out more about our school, news or events, please visit the school website, which I am sure you will find useful. In addition, for regular updates, why not look at our social media outlets:
