Dear Parents, Carers and friends of The Woodroffe School,
Thank you for taking the time to read through our latest edition of ‘Rough Notes’.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you again for the support you have given the school during this difficult time. We have worked incredibly hard to ensure that we have supported the ongoing education of our students, whilst the school remains closed.
On Monday 15th June, we welcomed back our Year 10 students with 129 attending across the week. Starting on Monday 22nd June, we had the first of our Year 12 students back in school, with 86 attending across the week. It was great to see the school with more young people walking the site, although there were a few moans about climbing the slope! We look forward to potentially welcoming back all students in all years from September.
Our key worker and vulnerable students’ group has grown in number and we are now catering for around 55 students each week. Should your child need access to this provision, please email us at:
office@woodroffe.dorset.sch.uk
This half-term we would have been looking forward to welcoming our new intake for their induction day, however, COVID-19 has had a big impact on our planned activities. Worry not. The link below will take you to an online resource pack, including videos, to help support the transition from Primary to Secondary:

There is more information to follow later so look out for additional resources being added to the website or emails. You will also receive a pack through the post during the summer which will contain further information. If you have any questions after reading through the information, please do feel free to email Mrs Claire Petty (Head of Year 7 2020/2021):

So, what have I been doing this month?
Last month, I shared some of the things I had been doing during lockdown, in-between the setting of work on Teams for my teaching groups and the supervising of in-school learning for the children of key workers and our vulnerable students.
This month, I have managed to take advantage of some of the recent good weather and took a really nice photograph from the school grounds which was chosen as ‘photo of the day’ on the LymeOnline Twitter page, thanks for picking my photograph!
I hope you enjoy our latest edition of ‘Rough Notes’. Should you wish to find out more about our school, news or events, please visit the school website which I am sure you will find useful. In addition, for regular updates, why not look at our social media outlets:
