Rough Notes – November 2019

Dear parents, carers and friends of The Woodroffe School,

Thank you for taking the time to read through our latest edition of ‘Rough Notes’.

We have enjoyed a very busy period and have had the opportunity to engage in many positive activities so far this year. Time moves ever on and I can’t quite believe that we have Christmas just around the corner, how time flies when you are working hard and having fun along the way!

In this edition you will find lots of examples of the opportunities that have recently been offered to our students, provided by our welcoming, supportive and dedicated staff. Articles include; Year 10 Work Experience Launch, Years 12 and 13 visit to Chemistry Live in London, UK Maths Challenge, the art residential visit to St Ives, our Year 11 GCSE Success Evening and the Sixth Form Open Evening, to mention but a few.

I was fortunate to witness a dedicated group of fifteen Sixth Form students, led by Mrs Cropp, compete at the recent Bar Mock Trial in Plymouth. Along for the day as the designated driver, it was great to see the hard work that had been put in over many weeks paying off during the competition, with our students winning 2 out of 3 scored trials. It was clear to see that we have some sharp legal minds as part of our school community.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers for their continued support. Attendance at key school events has been very strong and the feedback provided has been positive. It is really important that we continue to work in partnership to ensure that we provide the best that education has to offer to our young people.

Finally, it was great to welcome over forty local clubs, organisations and societies to our Community Engagement event on Friday 22nd November. I would like to thank all those who joined us on the evening, and we look forward to working more closely with you in the future.

I hope you enjoy our latest edition of ‘Rough Notes’. Should you wish to find out more about our school, news or events, please visit the school website which I am sure you will find useful. In addition, for regular updates, why not look at our social media outlets:
