Sail France 2019

Year 9 enjoyed a fantastic week of water sports in South West France at the beginning of the summer holidays. Sixty-one students, accompanied by seven members of staff, camped lake side at Azu-Rivage and took part in a whole range of activities including wind-surfing, kayaking, dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing, paddle boarding and trail bike riding. They also visited the town of Biarritz, completing high ropes obstacle courses and spending an evening at the beach in Vieux-Boucau. A highlight of the trip for many was white water rafting though the Pyrenees – an amazing experience!

Harrison: “White water rafting was awesome! The food was good too, I loved it when the staff at the campsite made me a birthday cake and everyone sang ‘happy birthday’ to me!”

Lucy: “It was really fun and it was great to spend time with my friends. It was fun diving off the boats into the lake and singing really loudly on the bus when they put the music on. The snails were disgusting, as was getting covered in flour and water in the robot game!”

Freya: “It was a great experience, I really liked eating the snails and swimming in the lake and the evening out at the beach. My favourite activity was the white water rafting because we had a great instructor and it was so fast and bumpy. I loved the evening at the beach and I also made lots of new friends who I still hang out with now – I can’t wait for the next trip!”

Tom: “I enjoyed freaking out during the thunder and lightening storm and sailing with my friends.”

Izzy: “It was a lot of fun, there was so much to do! I loved every single one of the activities!”

Emma: “Sail France was fun! The white water rafting was great. It sounds a lot scarier than it was, it was actually quite easy and it was really good fun.”
