On the 25th November the Year 11 Art and Graphics students went to London to visit three Art venues in support of their coursework studies. They visited the V & A in Kensington to get a feel for the theme ‘Gods Myths and Legends’ by studying old master’s sculptures of Greek myths. We then walked through Chelsea to the Saatchi gallery where contemporary protest Artists from Russia were on show. This was a very thought provoking show at the Saatchi and the students learned a great deal about how, why, where and when Art is used to influence people.
We finished at the Tate Modern where the students saw the turbine, an interactive 3D installation in the turbine hall, and visited the permanent exhibition. The images and ideas that the students took away with them from these shows will help them with the examination project next year as well as with their current studies.
