Welcome.

Mathematics is taught because it is useful and because it is an important form of communication. It should also be a source of delight and wonder, offering intellectual excitement; for example the discovery of relationships, the pursuit of rigour and the achievement of elegant solutions. Students should appreciate the creativity of mathematics; it is a live subject which is continuously evolving as technology and the needs of society evolve. Among his scientific accomplishments, Newton wrote the Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica, wherein he described universal gravitation and, via his laws of motion, laid the groundwork for classical mechanics.
